When to Use a Two-Page Resume
One-page resumes are not a universal rule. The right length depends on relevance density, seniority, and whether each line supports the job target.

The real rule is not one page or two pages. The rule is relevance.
Use One Page If
- You have under five years of experience. - You are changing careers and need only targeted highlights. - You are applying to high-volume roles with short recruiter review windows.
Use Two Pages If
- You have deep role history with measurable outcomes. - You need space for patents, publications, projects, or leadership scope. - You are applying to senior, managerial, or specialist roles.
Quality Filter
If page two is mostly filler, remove it. If page two contains high-value impact proof, keep it.
ATS Tip
Length itself does not hurt ATS performance. Poor structure does. Keep headings standard, avoid decorative layouts, and ensure critical keywords appear in relevant experience bullets.
